Trade education in the United States is undergoing a significant transformation, with new initiatives aiming to redefine its scope and impact. These efforts focus on elevating the quality of training, creating comprehensive support systems, and fostering a renewed passion for trades among diverse populations. Wilson Betances, founder of the distinguished nonprofit, Energize Us Edu Inc., has unveiled ambitious plans with the announcement of the G.R.O.W.T.H. Convention.

Set to take place in Burbank, California, from July 1 to 3, 2024, the G.R.O.W.T.H. Convention seeks to revolutionize the perception and reach of trade education in the United States. Aspiring to be the ‘Ivy League’ of trade schools, Energize Us Edu Inc. wants to create a comprehensive ecosystem, supporting individuals from education to employment. It plans to empower blue-collar professionals with hands-on courses, certifications, and networking opportunities.

“Our ultimate vision is to reignite passion and awareness for trades at every level — from high school students exploring their first interests to newcomers in the workforce, all the way to newly licensed contractors,” says Wilson Betances. The broader aim is to lay the groundwork for a national network, connecting graduates with employment opportunities.

From beginning his electrical career at Thomas A. Edison Vocational High School, Wilson Betances has come a long way with his own electrical company. A proud blue-collar professional, he believes that the skilled trades offer a world of opportunities. “We are not selling courses, we are selling opportunities and incentivizing the opportunities to grow,” he states.

As trade education transforms in the United States, Energize Us Edu Inc. is at the forefront, driving change with its ambitious vision. The G.R.O.W.T.H. Convention is more than an event; it is a launchpad for a nationwide movement aimed at elevating the quality and perception of trade education. As Wilson Betances and his team lead this change, they are not just offering courses but paving the way for lasting career opportunities and reshaping the future of the American workforce.
